"Early Autumn - Goldstream"
8" x 8" - Oil on Canvas
$ 125 Unframed
I promised that I would post the good, the bad and the ugly! Not sure if this is the bad or the ugly. I don't know why I insist on torturing myself by painting landscapes. I struggle with them so much. Maybe I just hope that eventually something will click and they will work. Maybe I should do a whole challenge painting landscapes!!!
Unfortunately, the lighting wasn't good when I took this image, so some of the nuances in the pathway aren't showing up,the trees are not as black as they appear to be (they have some colour in them) and the foilage has a lot more texture than there appears to be here. I will try to photograph it again tomorrow.
An constructive criticism is more than welcome!
I like this a lot! Feels like I could just step right in and follow that path into the woods.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Bill! I appreciate that.
DeleteAre you serious? This painting is amazing! Composition is stellar, colours fabulous (okay the trees not so dark will be better) and the overall sensation it gives is one of peace and tranquility!
ReplyDeleteTHIS is a fantastic landscape. You have turned the corner on that subject matter. I don't want to hear anymore whining! xox
Thank you Pidge! Yes, actually I was serious. I find it very difficult to loosen up and just let random things happen as far as leaves, etc. I really need to work on it, but I guess maybe there's hope for me yet. LOL I shall have to persevere and paint more landscapes. :P
DeleteIndeed you will ... because you're got the hang of it now (you just don't know it yet)!
DeleteMy only criticism is that you are too hard on yourself! The painting is fantastic and I like the darkness - it's so BC! I like how it's initially dark, but as you follow the path, it becomes light and colorful - much like life and challenges faced! Can't wait to see the rest of the month!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tey!! I just need to paint more of them, I think.
